4/DV User Manual Addendum -- for version 54 firmware and above

Focus Enhancements recommends that you update to this latest version of firmware if you are presently using a version older than what is noted above. To display the current software version, turn on your DR-DV5000 and select MENU and scroll down to OS VERSION NO. Pressing SEL will display the current version.

In order to download this firmware, you will require the following:

1) Windows 98SE, ME, 2000, XP or Macintosh OS9.1 or later computer system with an active OHCI compliant FireWire (IEEE-1394) port.

2) Focus Enhancments DR-DV5000 Camera Mount DTE Disk Recorder

3) Focus Enhancments FSHDD-1 FireWire disk drive or other FAT32 formatted FireWire disk drive.

4) 6-pin to 6-pin FireWire (IEEE-1394) connector.

To Get Started:

1. Launch Media Messenger by clicking the 'Start' button on your desktop.
2. Select 'Programs' and search for the 'Visual Circuits' program folder.
3. Within the Visual Circuits program folder, select 'Media Messenger'.
4. The Media Messenger License Information screen will appear.
5. Enter the company name and license key provided in these instructions.
6. Once you are done entering the registration information, click the 'OK' button.
7. If everything is correct, you will get a message indicating that your software has been successfully registered and you will be able to start using Media Messenger Demo.

FireWriter continues to develop as an excellent production CG for live video productions, messaging & bulletin board operations, and as a logo insertion tool. Here are a few examples of how FireWriter CG has been improved since the first shipment:

New FireWriter Remote file transfer application:

1) FireWriter is now available in both NTSC and PAL.
2) The outline feature has been implemented along with outline transparency that is independent of the letter transparency.
3) Picture and Gradient backgrounds now appear in the Color and Background Pattern menu boxes.
4) In the Letter, Border, and Outline COLOR menus the name VIDEO has been changed to TRANS for Transparency.
5) In the Letter Color and Outline Color menus the Transparency bar now shows video.
6) In the Background Pattern menu the logo box now displays the correct background
7) Locked demo has been enabled (COMMAND-ACCENT-POWER)
8) When a factory reset is performed the clock is reset to midnight Jan 1, 2001.
9) Holding down a specific keyboard key no longer overruns the keyboard buffer.
10) Project default pages are set to infinity duration instead of instead of 0:00.0.
11) Simplified the setting of the Date and Clock menus making it easier to set the clock and date stamps.

This is the latest version of the iTView Mac driver which supports iMac Flatpanel G4's & G3 models running on Mac OS 10.2.1-10.2.3 only. iMac DV models will run on 10.2.1-10.2.3 along with 10.3 systems. Emac models will require 10.2.3 or 10.3. This software will not work with Towers, Cubes, Powerbooks or iBooks. This version fixes the sleep mode bug, and improves default settings.

Updates all versions of the Python application to 2.0. This is an updater only and requires Python to already be installed on your local drive.
